The Secondary School is expanding year by year, with Grades 7–8 currently in place, Grade 9 opening next year, followed by Grade 10 (Pre-IB) and the Diploma Programme in Grades 11–12.

About the Role 

School of Tomorrow (SOT) in Zurich is actively preparing to offer the IB Diploma Program and is currently engaged in the IB candidacy process.

We are seeking an experienced IB educator to lead the development and implementation of the Diploma Program and guide the school through authorization, while also teaching in the Secondary School.

This role offers the opportunity to shape a young, forward-thinking school and to establish a high-quality IB Diploma Program within a personalized, wellbeing-centered learning environment.

Role Overview

As the Secondary IB Diploma Coordinator & Teacher, you will lead all aspects of SOT’s preparation for the IB Diploma Program.

The role combines approximately 40% coordination with a teaching allocation. Teaching may be in one subject or a combination of subjects, depending on qualifications and school needs. Candidates should be qualified in their subject and/or have relevant IB teaching experience. Experience teaching English is an advantage, but not essential. The coordination allocation will increase as the program develops.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead planning, development and implementation of the IB Diploma Program

  • Guide the school through IB candidacy and authorization

  • Develop and oversee TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS

  • Support alignment between Grades 9–10 (Pre-IB) and the DP

  • Mentor teachers in IB-aligned pedagogy and assessment

  • Coordinate IB documentation, timelines and communication

  • Act as the main liaison with the IB and other IB World Schools

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Significant experience within the IB Diploma Program

  • Ideally experience in IB coordination or program leadership

  • Qualified secondary teacher with IB experience

  • Experience in teaching English is an advantage, but not a requirement.

  • Understanding of or willingness to learn Lehrplan 21

  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Commitment to holistic, student-centred education

Desirable:

  • Experience in start-up or program-building contexts

  • Experience leading or mentoring colleagues
