Where structure meets personalization

At School of Tomorrow (SOT), we believe meaningful learning happens when structure meets personalization—when students have time to concentrate deeply, guided by their curiosity, with the freedom to explore at their own pace.

Our days are designed to balance focus, creativity, and community, giving students the rhythm to learn deeply and grow confidently.

Our curriculum is based on and aligned with the cantonal curriculum Lehrplan 21 (LP21) and is delivered through age-appropriate, engaging learning experiences. Our multi-age classes allow us to tailor learning to each child’s skills and level of understanding, ensuring that instruction is differentiated, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate.

Kindergarten

In Kindergarten, our standard timetable runs from Monday to Thursday. Friday is offered as an optional additional day of care and enrichment. This extra day was introduced in response to the children’s strong interest in having more time at school and provides further opportunities for in-depth exploration, targeted workshops, and additional support for families who require it, while still allowing those who wish to reserve the day for family time to do so.

About Sek & Gymi

Daily Rhythm: Balancing Structure & Flexibility

Our daily routine is carefully planned to balance structured lesson blocks with intentional flexibility. Within a lesson block, students may move between several modes of learning according to their readiness and needs. An input phase provides a shared foundation through direct instruction and joint exploration of key concepts. From there, some students may choose to continue independently in self-study, consolidating or extending their understanding, while others work in guided practice, applying new learning individually or in collaboration with peers. At the same time, “focus bubbles” allow teachers to offer differentiated support for clarification, targeted guidance, or additional challenge in small or larger groups. This dynamic structure enables students to engage at an appropriate level of challenge, build self-management skills, and take increasing responsibility for their own learning.

The fixed class periods created by this structure give students focused time to engage deeply with their learning and sustain concentration, while the flexible phases of the day allow for independent work, collaboration, or short breaks when needed. Together, this rhythm promotes self-management, a strong sense of responsibility, and intrinsic motivation – key competencies for successful, lifelong learning.

Within this framework, our weekly program includes:

  • Core subjects (mathematics, languages, natural sciences, social studies)

  • Physical competence & sports

  • Music & Art

  • Digital learning

  • Workshops & Enrichment

  • Mindset coaching

Because our pedagogy is interdisciplinary, these areas are often integrated rather than taught in isolation. They frequently appear in combination within lessons, projects, and workshops, enabling students to draw connections across subjects, deepen their understanding, and experience how their learning relates to real-world contexts.

Learning cycles

The school year is divided into learning cycles, each of which includes phases of focus, reflection, and creativity:

  • Learning Sprints – In-depth, action-oriented learning in core subjects and projects.

  • Reflection weeks – reviewing learning progress, setting new goals, and revisiting challenging or particularly interesting topics.

  • Enrichment weeks – Creative, thematic deepening.

Inside our timetable

  • Mathematics, languages (German, English, French), Humanities, and Sciences form the foundation. Learning happens through inputs, discussions, group work, and self-directed learning, cultivating independence and collaboration.

  • In addition to the dedicated core subject lessons, our daily schedule includes regular project, enrichment, and extension times. During these moments, students work on topics that link several subject areas, apply their knowledge in practical ways, and practice the competencies required by Lehrplan 21 .

  • A daily moment to connect, share, and set intentions, fostering emotional awareness and belonging.

  • Music and the arts are central to life at SOT. Students express their creativity through rhythm, composition, and performance, building confidence and imagination. Our approach is personalized, letting each child follow their interests, whether it's discovering a new instrument or working on a collaborative project. Beyond artistic skills, these activities support concentration, collaboration, and critical thinking.

  • Movement and sports are integrated throughout the week. Students develop physical fitness, coordination, and resilience, while also learning teamwork, emotional regulation, and healthy habits. Our program emphasizes lifelong well-being, providing opportunities to explore various sports, practice self-defense, and develop body awareness in a safe, supportive environment.

  • Technology at SOT is used purposefully. Students gain hands-on experience with coding, robotics, media production, and age-appropriate AI tools, while learning responsible digital citizenship. Devices and platforms support creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, all guided by teachers to ensure safe, meaningful, and balanced use.

  • At SOT, we place great emphasis on mindset, especially cultivating a growth mindset. Through guided exercises, reflection, and discussions, students learn to approach challenges positively, take ownership of their learning, and develop resilience. Mindset coaching is woven throughout, helping students build confidence, self-awareness, and motivation.

  • A structured space for student voice and leadership, co-creating class agreements, community initiatives, and events through collaboration and consensus.

  • An integral part of every day, helping students set goals, critically reflect on progress, and plan next steps.

  • Students step into the role of innovators and change-makers, turning their own ideas into real-world projects. Through entrepreneurial challenges, creative ventures, and reflective presentations, they learn to identify needs, design solutions, test their impact, and share their journey with others.
