Wrapping Up the 2024/2025 School Year: Thank You and Have a Wonderful Summer!
The 2024/2025 school year has officially come to an end – and what a memorable year it has been!
We want to take a moment to reflect on all the incredible experiences, achievements, and memories that made this school year so special.
From inspiring classroom moments to exciting projects and activities, it has been a year full of growth, learning, and community. We are truly grateful to our students, teachers, staff, and families for their positive energy, dedication, and support.

Looking ahead:
In the coming school year, we will open our new campus in Uster for kindergarten and primary school and re-open the Augustinerhof campus in Zurich's old town as a secondary and high school. Two major steps that will further our vision of creating individual, future-oriented learning spaces for our students.
But before we start the next chapter together, it's time for a summer break!
Whether you're traveling, enjoying time with your loved ones or simply feeling the relaxed pace of the vacations. We sincerely wish you a relaxing and happy summer.
And now, let's look back together at some of our favourite moments of this school year.
We look forward to seeing you again in the 2025/2026 school year!
Our year in review
Explore your own city: Zurich city tour
At the beginning of the academic year, the students embarked on a city walking tour that allowed them to explore and connect with the heart of Zurich. With an investigative worksheet in hand, they got to know the areas around Rennweg, Paradeplatz, Augustinerhof, and Lindenhof. As they took notes on their surroundings and learned about the rich history of central Zurich, many of them experienced outdoor learning for the very first time. It was a wonderful way to introduce them to the city’s culture and history while also fostering a sense of curiosity and adventure.
Halloween magic
For Halloween 2024, the students truly transformed the school into a delightfully spooky space! Everyone dressed up in creative costumes, carved pumpkins, and participated in a fun scavenger hunt that extended beyond the school grounds. They explored the city, finding clues at iconic spots like Lindenhof and various tram stops. The day wrapped up with a lovely picnic, thanks especially to our Mora for organizing everything so wonderfully!
Passion Projects on Display: Project Presentations
As December arrived, so did one of our favorite traditions and core activities: project presentations. Students showcased a wide range of interests, from exploring the periodic table and fish biology to Irish dancing, storytelling, climbing, and even teaching German to younger students. Whether working individually or in groups, they did a great job of deeply researching the topics and sharing them with others using the Renzulli Learning platform to guide their process. A second round of presentations in February kept the spirit of inquiry and creativity alive well into the new year.
Closing 2024 with Christmas Magic
The Christmas celebrations at the school were truly heartwarming and full of festive cheer. The school was beautifully decorated with twinkling lights and festive ornaments, the students exchanged gifts through a Secret Santa, and a student-run bake sale raised funds for a future outing. In the final week, staff joined the fun in festive outfits, and the celebrations wrapped up with a joyful Christmas gathering featuring performances by our kindergarten and primary students. It was a heartwarming way to head into the holidays!
Into the Woods: Forest Day Adventures
As summertime approached, our school organized a delightful Forest Day in a nearby forest. Students took part in a scavenger hunt, a gentle hike to base camp, and learned practical skills like building swings and making fire from natural materials. As a reward, we also enjoyed a picnic. It was a fantastic experience that not only strengthened students’ connection to the outdoors but also encouraged teamwork and curiosity.
Adventures in Bächli-Hemberg: Residential Trip
In May, our students embarked on a fantastic three-day residential trip to Bächli-Hemberg – and it was a huge success! Set against the peaceful backdrop of valleys, rivers, and forest trails, the group enjoyed hikes, nature adventures, games, and evenings filled with fun and laughter. Highlights included a visit to the Baumwipfelpfad in the Neckertal area, outdoor picnics, and cosy game nights at the guesthouse. The entire trip was proudly screen-free, giving students a chance to fully connect with nature and each other. Many described it as the best trip they have ever been on!
A new chapter begins: moving to Schloss Sihlberg
At the end of May, we closed a wonderful chapter at the Augustinerhof campus in the center of Zurich (which will soon be our new secondary school location) and moved into our new, magical home: Sihlberg Castle in Zurich's Enge district. The move involved a lot of effort, but everyone mastered the challenge brilliantly. It is a pleasure to see how much the community enjoys the new rooms, the garden and the nearby park.
Project-based learning in action: the cupcake project
In June, one of our children had a great idea: “Let’s bake cupcakes!” What followed was a fantastic journey of discovery, planning, and collaboration — a perfect example of project-based learning in action. From finding a recipe to creating shopping lists and purchasing ingredients, the children were fully involved in every step. They then worked together to bake enough cupcakes to share with the whole school! Along the way, the project naturally wove in key areas of the curriculum. The children used maths to measure and divide ingredients, explored literacy through reading and writing recipes, and learned about health and hygiene in the kitchen. Most importantly, the children were highly engaged and proud of their achievements — and they loved sharing their creations with others!
Ready, set, go: our sports day
Our Sports Day, originally planned for the field just below Schloss Sihlberg at the beginning of July, turned into an exciting and dynamic activities day around the castle due to the extreme heat. Students enjoyed short running races, knocking over cones, navigating obstacle courses, and taking part in team activities, all while staying cool with water fountains and refreshing breaks. This day brought together students from kindergarten and primary, creating a wonderful sense of community and interaction. The staff had a fantastic time as well, and it was a perfect opportunity for us to come together as a school. We are definitely looking forward to many more Sports Days in the future!
Der Vampir im Klavier: Our theatre week
Shortly before the end of the school year, the School of Tomorrow was transformed into a creative stage: students and teachers staged their own play The Vampire in the Piano. Under the loving direction of Kathrine, the week was filled with music, dance, drama and lots of laughter. The children developed their own scenes in small groups, rehearsed diligently and performed the play on Thursday evening in front of an audience of parents. The atmosphere was great and the pupils shone on stage.
Art that inspires - all year round
Art and creativity flourish at the School of Tomorrow, thanks to the incredible work of our specialist, Nataliia. Throughout the year, students have immersed themselves in a wide range of artistic projects and have created beautiful works of art, whether for special events like Christmas, Halloween, and Easter, or during their weekly creative gatherings. From spray paint projects and multimedia art to reimagined portraits and even creative food art, the students have truly showcased their talents.
Body Competence: movement, mindfulness & more
One of the standout programs is Body Competence, led by our sports and physical education specialist, Dominic. This program is a fantastic blend of physical activity, games, body awareness, balance, mindfulness, and breathwork, all designed to help students better understand their bodies and how they function. Students also get to enjoy a variety of sports, from badminton and hockey to football, gymnastics, yoga, and even some martial arts.
Exciting projects in the Science Atelier
Another highlight of our school are the creative projects in the studio, which is run by our talented Andres. Here, students can work on topics that inspire them – be it building a football stadium, designing their own iPads, aquarium projects, model airplanes or identifying insects. They experiment with different materials – from plasticine to real chemical substances. The studio is a center for STEM learning where science, technology, engineering and mathematics come together in a creative way and in a bilingual environment (German/English).
