This school year we tried something new. Instead of simply inviting people to come and visit our school, we decided to meet our community where they already were. Throughout the year, we joined a variety of local events in Zurich, Uster, and beyond to introduce our school to the "outside world."

Rather than setting up a traditional information stand, we wanted to create opportunities for children (and adults!) to join in, get creative, and have fun. So wherever you found us, there were hands-on activities, sports challenges, art projects, and other activities that reflect the approach to learning that's at the heart of our school: joyful learning, creativity, and an active approach that gets children moving and exploring.

We took part in big sports events like the Silvesterlauf, the Nachwuchslauf in Uster, and the Zürich City Triathlon, as well as community gatherings like the Mamalicious Market in Küsnacht and the Expat Expo. Every event was a bit different, but at all we met wonderful families, chatted with teachers and fellow exhibitors, and learned a few unexpected skills along the way, such as how to play real-life Tetris with a car full of event equipment or how to fill and tie a helium balloon in under five seconds!

Most importantly, we genuinely had a wonderful time. We grew closer as a team, made meaningful connections, and met so many lovely people along the way. Perhaps you were one of them. If so, thank you for stopping by, we're so glad we had the chance to meet you.

A huge thank you also goes to our incredible team, who gave up more than a few weekends to make these events possible. Thank you to all the organizers who kept us well looked after, whether that meant making sure we stayed hydrated during the summer heat or warm during the winter cold. And thank you to our neighboring exhibitors, who shared conversations, advice, smiles, and even a few little gifts along the way. You all helped make these weekends so memorable.

A little throwback at events of this school year

Expat Expo | Zurich | November 22

The Expat Expo brings together newcomers and the services that help them settle into life in Switzerland, from housing and healthcare to banking and education. We had a small stand there and spent the day having some wonderful conversations.
Although we're not a traditional international school, our bilingual approach means many international families find their way to us. It was lovely to meet some of them there and hear their stories.

Mamalicious Market | Küsnacht | November 23, 2025 & May 31, 2026

Mamalicious Market is a vibrant community event filled with children's clothing, local businesses, and family activities. We joined for the first time in November with a small stand and had such a wonderful experience that we couldn't resist coming back for the spring edition in May.
This time, we went a little bigger and brought along a Paw Patrol bouncy castle! It turned out to be a great addition, giving children a place to play while parents had a chance to browse the market. We also enjoyed catching up with familiar faces, meeting new families, and chatting with the wonderful exhibitors around us.
A heartfelt thank you to the organisers for making us feel so welcome and for all their support.

Silvesterlauf | Zurich | December 14

Our first time at an event this big, and what an experience. Thanks to our wonderful science teacher, our tent stayed nicely warm (otherwise we might have turned into icicles). While runners tackled the course outside, our stand was filled with art activities, music and balloons.
Our helium balloons turned out to be incredibly popular. So popular, in fact, that we quickly ran out of helium. Luckily, we kept a few of them to decorate our tent, so we had a backup for the children whose balloons decided to float off on their own adventures. Since then, we've become much better at tying them securely to children's wrists, which has thankfully prevented many balloon escapes and the tears that usually followed.

Grasshopper Club Squash Cup | Zurich | April 21–26

For one week, squash took over the very heart of Zürich, with a professional court set up inside Zürich HB. As one of the event sponsors, we were there each evening with our info stand.
One of the highlights was Saturday's children's squash session, which we organized. Together with a professional coach, children from our school and beyond had the chance to try squash on a world-class court. Judging by the smiles on their faces, we may have inspired a few future squash players.

Nachwuchslauf | Uster | May 30

Set along the beautiful Greifensee, the Nachwuchslauf blessed us with a beautiful location, weather, and many amazing families. Some of our students took part in the race, others enjoyed the art activities organized by our wonderful art teacher, and many children proudly left with one of our balloons.

Zurich City Triathlon | Zurich | June 27

June decided to save its hottest weather just for this day. But all the athletes and our team pushed through wonderfully, and the beautiful location at Landiwiese even gave us the chance to jump in the water ourselves and soak up the real triathlon spirit.
Despite the heat, we were so happy that families stopped by and children took part in our small sports activities, including a very difficult triangle-throwing challenge.
We also discovered some hidden talents along the way, like one of our kindergarten teachers, who completely amazed us with his chalk and blackboard art, which truly made our stand come alive.
